tell her the check engine light keeps coming on and you haven't got the money to fix it yet. mechanic said it might overheat and she may end up blowing the whole engine which could cost her up to $6000 to replace.....she should just rent an an economy car for a few days if hers is in the shop.
it isn't right to ask this of you unless it is a MAJOR emergency or just a one time thing for a few minutes. if she's doing it all the time tell her it's for sale and make the price steep!!!

Say it plainly. You cannot borrow my car. I do it all the time. People always want to borrow my car. I have to be firm but kind. I say it with a smile and remind them of insurance issues and what if something happens - it would be an inconvenience to me. Let them know about the specialls that Enterprise has all the time. I have used them a lot in the past. You get VIP points for extended use.

ask her for a deposit, make her sign a waiver clearing you of any harm to her due to her driving, make the fine print really small and let it say she will pay for the damage if the car is damaged while shes in it.
make the fine print almost unreadable and mention you get an 8% raise every 6 months for providing this service for her.

Tell her the brakes don't work very well and you wouldn't want to be blamed for her death if they went out while she was using it. ....Or, maybe you can say you found a dead rat in it!

"I'm sorry, I already have plans to use it."

Or even more vague, but more pointed,
"I'm sorry, it's unavailable."

You could wimp out with "My insurance doesn't cover that, sorry!" but then she might ask you to make that change. :o)

But to avoid this coming up again, just say "No, thank you."
