I had a friend who got pregnant in march but she didnt know her last period was march 14 and she missed her next period in april she took a preg test on april 19th she was pregnant the doc said she was 5 weeks pregnant already so when did she concieve or when did the baby get fertilized? the online calendar says the 28 but she was already 5 weeks thats a week before the 28th..

Doctors consider the first day of the last period as the first week of the pregnancy. I know, it's crazy but that's what they go by. That's how you get 40 weeks of gestation.

They say it may take 5-10 days for the egg to become feterlized due to sperm staying active in the vagina for about 3-5 days. So somewhere in that time frame she became pregnant and thats why it appears to be one week off.
