We all make mistakes. The trick is ... not to continue laboring in them. I've told some whoppers but have resolved of a long time now the abject worthlessness of lies. Sometimes, though, I tell what seems like a lie; broadly, deliberately; of which no one hearing it can obtain any other interpretation. Ready?

I worked 16 years for the D.O.D., I wouldn't have the time or the space to list them all. I was a very bad man! Sometimes they come back in my thoughts and make me feel extremely bad. I have learned to deal with them over the years tho.
This may all sound like a flip asshole answer, unfortunately I'm speaking the truth. Wish I could tell you but can't for now. Be glad you can tell yours' to someone.

Wow, deja vu !! The worst lie was one that my mother caught me in during highschool, and the person I was with innocently ratted me out because I didn't tell him to keep it quiet. It was a matter of going somewhere I was told not to. I agree, losing trust was the worst part of it.

Telling the truth DOES hurt, but you'd rather face the music now than make up one lie after another and then have that person find out that they couldn't rely on you later.

i dialed 911 to impress my friends. a policeman came to the door and asked if everything was all right. they can track phone calls. i lied to the police and my mom about calling them. then my mom found out i lied. i missed a party. in that confession, i also lied about asking my friend to cover up for me. mom found out about that whopper too. grounded for two weeks. i've learned my lesson.
