Massive generalisation, but yeah, I think most of us think you're OK. A bit mad, but OK all the same. Sort of like one of your mad cousins you don't see too often, but enjoy it when they come over, even though you don't know how you ever managed to get related to them! You'll be made welcome in Ireland I'm sure.

You don't realize the level of propaganda you are faced with on a daily basis. Much of the world does not like Americans but it not the average American creating the bad face its either the jet setting rich or the pi$$ poor military that get to travel and live elsewhere. The average American lives in their own small world! I have some Irish decent and a famous Irish last name would love to travel and visit Ireland but may never be wealthy enough to enable that under this oppressive capitalistic structure we live in, or lack of true control of Money/Power/Wealth like our congress has and should NOT!

I'm from the north. Generally there aren't many hard feelings about Americans, as long as you don't go on about the troubles and ask questions like so is this were the bomd happened or is this the place were so and so was shot. You will get stick about your politics. But as long as you don't play the sterotypical American i.e my great great great grandfather was from here so I'm Irish and don't be too loud you'll be fine. This is for the north not sure about the south.

feck politics. most ppl are just trying to get by in life. as for americans, its like a lot of nations. i have no problem with alot of individual americans, but as a nation, im not so fond of them, i work in a busy tourist type shop and americans that come in are rude and demanding. some examples are things like interrupting a salesperson while they are clearly serving another customer, barking things lik 'atm' or 'toilets' at someone (i just cant understand how they feel that one word is a sentence, or y they cant see that words like please and thankyou are not extinct), or speaking to irish ppl as if we are deaf and dont speak english. i know that may seem harsh, but its get tiring. u shud have no problem if u are, as no doubt the majority of ur country ppl are, polite and try to be understanding.

It's not about politics it's about attitude and manners. Most people will find Americans loud and narrow minded. It's annoying when you speak English and you have to dumb it down for the Americans to understand.

Yes, that's true.
But on the other hand, the Irish are intelligent enough to know that governments come and go, but hospitality is eternal.
You'll be welcomed.

Most Americans you meet are touring Ireland in search of their heritage and are not thought of as warmongers. In Ireland with its rather chequered past people are judged as individuals.
