If you have really dry skin on your face, the best solution is lotion rather than cream. Lotion is oil based and cream is water based. That means that when you apply cream, it will need reapplied in a few minutes. Lotion will last you all day.
The lotion that I personally use is L'Oreal HydaFresh for normal to dry skin. It's the pink one (the green one is for normal to oily). There's also a matching cleanser to go with it. If you use the cleanser first, then rinse, they work together so you hardly need any. A dab the thickness and size of a dime will more than sufficiently cover your face and forehead.
Also, Nivea has an intensive moisture lotion that has coconut oil (I think) in it. It's also wonderful.
For places like dry elbows, hands and feet, I recommend Glysomed because it's got chamomile, glycerin and silicone in it. it's like you've applied a pair of gloves to your hands and takes quite a bit of effort (and soap) to wash off. This is a good lotion to apply if you work in a position where there is a lot of hand washing involved such as nursing or foodservice.
Good luck in your search!

Anything by Lubriderm, or if you want to get really silky, use cocoa butter.
