Did you mean Erasing the hard disk? If that so you'll need a start up disk (floppy) which is for windows 98 it's the best start up disk for formatting.. just type:
c: format
and if you have extra logical partitions like d ,e , f just do the same to them but replace the letter according to the drive.. and finally if you wish to remove the drives just type
fdisk
and navigate through the options

Download Bootable ISO Image of Active@ KillDisk to burn CD ,And boot with the Burned Cd to erase the data on the Hard disk.

And Erase all the data on the Hard disk.

at C: prompt, type
format c:
hit enter
Hard drive wiped!

1) Remove hard drive.
2) Drop in the garbage
3) Install new hard drive.

Write over it. Use Hard Disk Scrubber. Fdisk or formatting can't do what Hard Disk Scrubber does.

you can do that in the BIOS (if it has the option to format hard drives)
or you can use a bootable cd...and from it format the hard drive
