Chinchillas are small rodents who originally lived in the Andes Mountains of South America. They look a bit like a mouse with a furry tail. Their fur is considered the softest in the world and is thirty times softer than human hair. It's so dense that skin parasites (such as fleas) cannot live on one lest they suffocate. They were nearly extinct due to the fur trade, but nowadays they are very popular as household pets.
In their native habitat, chinchillas live in burrows or crevices in rocks. They are agile jumpers and can jump up to five feet above their head. Predators in the wild include hawks, skunks, felines, and canines. Their diet consists of plants, fruits, seeds, and small insects.

Chinchilla is a South American rodent. They're about the size of a rabbit but have shorter ears and longer tails. NOW as for the food that sounds similar to the name....you're talkin about "chitlins". Chitlins is the shortened form of "chitterlings" and they're both a nicer name for the same thing.........pig intestines...nasty, eh?
