Oooooohhhh --- I can totally relate . . . .
the summer before I was to graduate to toe shoes, I took a serious fall at camp, injuring my neck and shoulder. . .I never recovered sufficiently to be able to return to ballet. So close, but not meant to ever enjoy that experience. . .
BUT - HERE YOU ARE . . .
Congratulations, dear ballerina . . .
It takes many years of diligent practice, and repetitious (boring) exercises at the barre, and open floor. . . to build and adequately prepare the muscle groups - that you will need and utilize now, en pointe.
You've stuck it out, and made it to this goal . . . and I wonder if you were able to sleep at all, last nite??? Does the whole world have a 'pinkish' look about it, today?
Congratulations again - and thanx for showing an interest in other's feelings . . . it appears as though you have the enviably marvelous, yet rare, sensitivity of heart, necessary for success in your future dance adventures!

The most effective uncomfortable footwear I've ever purchased had been affordable black pumps, however I did not fairly consider they might be relaxed to begin with... I would not most often put on footwear like that however I wanted black footwear/boots to move with a vampire dress at Halloween at tuition. Can't keep in mind how so much they rate but it surely wasn't so much, I did not brain an excessive amount of that I ended up dressed in them most effective that night. For day put on, and even 'usual' formal parties, I might by no means recollect uncomfortable shoes; I by no means did even if I nonetheless wore footwear, and for the beyond ten years I've been barefoot continually, without reference to how formal the main issue is. But I do love costuming and can put on uncomfortable apparel for that reason; aside from the ones footwear a stuffy Klingon headpiece, giant, stiff rubber Goblin ears, and fixed-on witches noses come to brain....

(Heh ... I don't think some of the previous Answerers understood what you meant! These are pointe shoes: http://www.roseschoolofdance.com/nss-folder/pictures/balletshoes.jpg)
Congrats on your pointe shoes -- that's really exciting! :) I was 10 when I got my first pair and I was so thrilled to put them on -- I kept pirouetting all around the studio!
Be sure to be kind to your feet, though, and take a break every so often -- they can get really sore and tender after being "en pointe" for an hour or so. Our ballet mistress used to make us soak our toes in rubbing alcohol or vinegar (!) to toughen them up a little, so it wouldn't hurt so much. We also had to stuff the toes of our pointe shoes with lamb's wool, to cushion the blow. I still have my very first pair nailed to my bedroom door. :-)
Good luck, and congrats!

Grats.
Eh I was little like 8-ish. I guess. (Pointed dress shoes with little heels)
As far as real heels, I didn't have interest in them until High School. Even then I only wore them to events.
I suppose I started wearing heels on a regular basis once I got an office job.
Have fun.

Hooray!!! It's a wonderful day to be on pointe for the first time. Congratulations!!!
I adore them - I would love to collect old, used pointe shoes just to have them. I love them when they are brand new & shiny, but the dances in them when they are old & beat up - wow.
I got my first pair at 19 - I treasured them & still have them. I was self taught so I'm not very good. I loved sewing on my ribbons, wrapping my toes, lacing them up. It was very special.
Be careful, dance beautifully - break a leg!!!
