I was having pains near my heart and trouble sleeping, dizzieness, headaches so i went to see a dr.

my dr told me that i was having anxiety and that i was depressed.but to look up marfan's syndrome.

I did and from there i realize i could have mitra valve prolapse.. I'll see a cardiologist soon. I'm only 28 and 5'9. A lot of marfan's are taller than that. The dr. also says that i don't have to have all of the symptoms shown.

You will need lots of other test before that can be diagnosed. I have a 4 yr old with Marfan's. You have to have at least three of the four major characteristics. The best way is to see a geneticist and have the blood drawn to identify any mutations on the FBN1 gene.

Did your doctor detect a heart murmur? What makes him suspicious of Marfan's?
Usually Marfan's is a congenital disorder and runs in families. They think that Abraham Lincoln had Marfan's. I don't think mitral valve prolapse is that common of a Marfan's symptom - but think that aneurysm are much more so. A cardiologist will able to figure this out really fast.

I do not have Marfan's (I'm a short stubby 5'2") but had a heart murmur and a marfan's type aneurysm repaired when I was 27. I'm a health old broad now.
