Antawn Jamison is a versatile player who can score inside and outside. Shane Battier is an very good, yet underrated, defender who isn't afraid to do some of the dirty work. Joe Johnson is a great outside shooter, which is very important in international competition, which heavily favors teams that can consistantly make long-range shots. Brad Miller can hit the mid-range shot, good defender, good rebounder, and isn't limited to post play, so he can match up against those centers who can play outside of the post, which you see a lot of in international play. So, all those guys have abilities that would be assets to the US Men's team.
But I will give you Carmelo Anthony. He had a serious attitude problem in the last Olympics and seemed more concerned about his minutes than the teams performance. The only thing uglier than the US showing in 2004 was Anthony's bad attitude, which came back for a repeat performance in the last playoffs. So, I agree with you on the one point, Carmelo really shouldn't be on the team, unless he can change that attitude of his. And, ability wise, there are, what, 5 guys on the squad already who are better at his position?, SO, yeah, I agree with on Carmelo.

No, I don't.
Joe Johnson is going to be a very productive player for this team. He's a great ball handler and a big-time outside shooter. Carmelo Anthony is maturing into one of the best players in the league and average over 25 points per game last season. Shane Battier is a very solid defender and passer. He'll bring a great teamwork mentality to the USA team. Brad Miller is also another very talented big man. Antawn Jamison is a good player, not a great player but he should add some great offensive power.
You'll see, this USA team will not lose once.

No, the All-Star game is only a popularity contest in the first place, plus not every all-star wants to or is physically ready to play on the US team right now.
They're light at center, but international ball is about team play and shooting, not slash to the rim and dunking.
It's a good thing you're not on the selection committee...

Nope. The guys they picked are better suited for the international game. They do not need all stars. They need guys who can play a certain type of ball. The guys that are on the team are just right.

Not stupid at all. Every team needs role players and complimentary players to suceed. There weren't many of those on the squad at the last Olympics and that didn't turn out great now did it.

No, the All-star game is strictly for the fans and who's most popular. It has nothing to do with talent (which is required to play for the U.S. team).

I won't bet they'll win every game. I think there is always this hype surrounding the team that is thought it will win.... and maybe you saw what happened to Brazil in WC'06... I see the same "bright" future for USA. But they will be my favs anyway :)

As long as they're run by Coach K, they're my least favorite team in the world, so I don't care who plays.
