With most birth control pills, they are effective after you have been taking the active pills (not the dummy ones that you take during the period) for one week. I don't know specifically about Seasonale, but chances are, they are the same as other types of birth control pills. Along with your pill pack, there should be a little patient information leaflet, and that will have the information that you seek. Otherwise, any pharmacist should know the answer.
Hope this helps!
