I assume you mean an American SSN, which makes me wonder why this is appearing on UK Yahoo Answers.

Yes, it is a criminal offense to use a social security number fraudulently. But it is rarely punished except where benefits are fraudulently sought or obtained.

YES ur SS# is ir identification number. you can steal someones entire life with just those 9 numbers. if you do you will definately go to jail

NO............If they could then 99.9% of the illegal mexcians who work in the USA would be behind bars.................Honesly i think they should be...........the Mexican and whoever uses the SS numbers of others........
