I started a new working relative off at Fidelity on a foreign mutual fund Roth IRA. So far it's done fine, going up when the total market has gone down. Look for a Morningstar 5 star fund- that means it's been a good fund for 10 years.

I started mine with Edward Jones. It wasn't very expensive, and my financial representative manages it completely. I have loved investing there, as my representative is a friendly guy who meets us for coffee on Sundays (for fun!).

I don't know about your e-trade though, sorry.
