Communism is a form of socio- economics where everyone has equally hard jobs, gets paid equally, and all their money goes to the government. They are provided everything they need with a little extra spending money. In communism, you don't have some extremely poor people and some extremely rich people. The idea is that everyone is equal.

The problem is that because it takes away freedom to accel, a dictatorship is normally required to impliment the system. Another problem is that if the government becomes corrupt, people lose money and EVERYONE becomes poor. Let's say you're a doctor and you're performing surgery. You know that you will get paid the same abount of money each day as the garbage man down the street. Does that make you want to spend your life learning medicine?

There you go. A quick lesson in communism.

If you want an example of socialism, which is the first phase of communism, look at the United States Military. There still exists classes, and people are

paid according to what they do or what they know. Everyone is provided with food and housing, and the government pays them. Now this is a system that works perfectly. You stil have the incentive to work hard and perform better than the next guy. The problem of lack of freedom still exists, though, because the government is in control of their job, their paycheck, and 3/4 of their life. So with a few changes, socialism similar to the military's society might actually work much better.

I honestly don't want socialism, I'm just trying to explore what might work and what wouldn't. I lived the military life. It had it's ups and downs, but one thing i never worried about was money, and that made me a much happier person. At the same time, one can accel much faster, uninhibited, in our economical system today.

Socialism works well in the Scandanavian countries. It does have it's drawbacks though just like our capitalistic democratic government. Take the best of both worlds and you just might have a very livable carefree life that treat the working class with the dignity it deserves.

Socialism works, just look at Europe. However, it's largest cost is in freedom. Obviously, when the government is controlling everything, the people are not free. A lack of freedom, besides being undesirable in itself, also prevents the whole system from running at its full potential. Socialism is like a car with a governor: it will still run, but slowly, and far short of it's potential. This is caused by a lack of motivation, a lack of capital for investing, and a general stifling of business and innovation by regulations.

Personally, I prefer freedom, and the opportunity to live up to my full potential.

The economic system that provides the most freedom and prospertiy is the free market. Not the "capitalism" of conservatives - that is not true capitalism but a true self-regulating free market.
