Today, on the Tyra Banks Show; Tyra said that the average model has to be almost 6 feet and weigh 120 pounds. She also said that the model has to be anywhere between a 2 and a 4 in dress size. Today she was doing "full-sized" models and had a contest for them. That was so nice of her. Anyways, I hope I could help...I wanted to be a model once too but it's a lot of hard and emotional work, so I gave it up.

If you want to be a model, start going to open calls and entering competitions.

Check out the major modeling agencies like Ford and Elite. Start with the big ones and then go smaller if you don't have any luck. BEFORE you go in, ask what they will expect to see in terms of photos, if any.

Oh and NEVER pay anyone to look at your book or give you a "consultation." Scam, scam, scam.

If you're serious about this, you will probably need to spring for some quality professional photographs. You might consider signing up to model at a local art school or graduate photography program or even design/fashion program. This is a great way to get free shots for your book.

As for A & F, they often choose their models from among college athletes. So, if that's your dream, I suppose there's an additional route open to you.

However, 5'7" is short for a male model. You may be able to get work as a "body" model for close-ups. Or, if you have an extraordinary face and presence you might have a shot.
