i have a 250W power supply. i have added a dvd-rw in place of the dvd player. i have also added a good audio card. i want to add a good video card soon but i know i will probably need to get a bigger power supply box. i am considering a 500W power supply. if i have 2 times the watts does this mean i will have 2 times the heat? or will there be less stress on my pc and the heat will not change much?

Having a bigger power supply doesn't mean you're going to have more heat. But considering, you're just got a new audio card and are going to get a new video card in the future, those two things will definitely produce more heat.

the power supply actually HELPS cool your PC. no worries there. audio cards are low temp, though fideocards on the other hand rival processors heat. vodeo cards come with sufficient cooling however because they tend to have a fan and heatsink attatched. just make sure your case fans are working properly and you will be fine.

Powersupply doesnt generate any kind of heat effect.
The internal heat in a PC's tower is generated by CPU and other components.
I dont think audio and video cards do generate much heat. You can buy a card that has cooling fans attached to it. - It solves your issue.
