How do you know whether that metal will deposit on the cathode or it will form beads and fall into the beaker?Copper deposits...lead does not...what decides that? Pls give me a high school level answer

The factor that decides this is the valence electrons.
Copper is BA and Lead is not as BA so fo sho.

It depends on the metals ability to bond with the electrode surface. If it bonds, it is plated, if it does not it beads out.
