Yes indeed. U.S. produced t.v. series are shown all over the World. The residual fees are a major sourse of profit for the networks and actors.
About 10 years ago Hogan's Heroes was a major hit in Germany.

Well, some of those came from Europe first.

'American Idol' is an import of 'Pop Idol' which was first shown on the British channel ITV, and both Big Brother and Deal or No Deal are originally Dutch ideas.

The English speaking world (the UK, Australia, New Zealand) get a lot of dramas and comedies from US networks, but not a great deal of reality shows.

Prison Break, the CSIs, Nip/Tuck, Lost to name a few, and the big comedies like The Simpsons, Scrubs etc etc....

24 first made it big on the BBC over here, at a time it was initially struggling on FOX, (and the gossip is that we'll be rewarded with the rumoured 24 movie being partially set and filmed in London.)

Channel 5 and Channel 4's digital spin-off, E4 in the UK have a lot of US imports and Channel 9 and Network Ten in Australia have very few original programme ideas of their own so show a huge amount of American imports.

I live in Italy and, yes, we get 'em all. Except American Idol. But I lived in London for 6 months and it was aired there and very popular! Do I get 10 points?? :o)

Big Brother? We have a UK version

same for deal or no deal.

But they are both garbage, much like most American shows.

In fact TV in general is pretty dire. Except for Pokolyo.

In Canada, yes. On some of our channels it seems as though all they show are American programming.
