hey Gerry...it is called social phobia these days,I was diagnosed with it a few years back. There is a web site that you can check out,or phone a local mental health institute and they'll put you on the right track...don't wait too long to do something about it,
it doesn't go away by itself, you will overcome it,put the effort in,it's well worth it g/l

I get the same type of symptoms in similar situations, i.e. around crowds, meeting new people, and I have found that a medication, Xanax, has worked well if I take it before I enter into these situations. I know it has addictive potential, so it's only for occasional use, but it's what really works for me. You may want to consult your physician.

HEY email me! It used to be called social panic disorder but now it's called Social Phobia.

I totally know how you feel lol. I thought i was going crazy i honestly don't know how i got through 18 years of my life but i did. I saw a doctor i was diagnosed with that and agoraphobia and now i feel completely free, I haven't had a panic attack for MONTHS and i've been more outgoing then i ever have in my entire life. Try taking deep breaths.

A lot of people have that disorder. Take it easy. One of the main problems might be that you are attracted to opposites. Hang around with people who think like you.

Oh, you're just nervous...why is it that lately normal reactions are being branded as "disorders"? (I guess Big Pharma needs more $$$.)

Just try to calm down, think about what you want to say, then go do it.
