As I have gotten older I have migrated from firey hot to simple hot to a medium salsa. By firey hot, I mean I used to add 2 or more diced habaneros to a pint of regular hot salsa. Or I would add a pint of sause to the blender and add a couple of habaneros to that and blend away. I would also add a skinned seeded jalapeno to a jar of Frenchs mustard and blend in.
When you think of hot & peppers, consider that jalapenos are relatively mild when measured in Scoville units of spice heat.

HOT HOT HOT! But not so hot that you can't TASTE the salsa. Know what I mean.

If you have a sensitive stomach, stay away from jalapenos. Go instead with the Habaneros. They are VERY HOT, but the heat doesn't linger in your tummy- and doesn't burn on the way out... Not intending to be gross...
