Great, great grandfather.
Born 1820s in England.
Emmigrated to the US 1838.
Soldier in the US Mexican War 1846 to 1848. Award for bravery.
Soldier in the US Civil War. 1861 to 1865. He was on the right side but they lost anyway.
Married at 48 years old!
Five children......
I have a bunch of tin type photos plus his pension papers for being a veteran, marriage documents, etc.
Pretty interesting, to me anyway. Most people don't know and don't seem to care.

No royalty in my roots. But, on my German side, we were able to trace back to the mid 1700's. Actually, that part is kind of freaky. We didn't do the tracing back, the Nazi government did. My grandparents grew up in Nazi Germany and they each had a booklet, issued by the government, where the Nazi government went and traced back your roots to make sure there was no Jewish blood in your family. So, we have the booklets from our grandparents. It goes back and shows their ancestors names, occupations, religions, where baptized, etc. Its interesting, but a little disturbing, when you consider why it was done.

Great Grandparents on my dads side, i believe. I know they brought my grandpa and his brothers to the USA from Italy.
