K i dont know if your a female or male but if i were you i wouldnt ask them out, and i wouldnt tell them straight forward. you can build on ur relationship so that its not only a friendship by doing sweet things. like for instance, go the extra mile on a birthday, make sure to keep her/him smiling all day. i had a friend who went thru the same thing and now he's with the girl that was his best friend, they've known each other for a while. after he got to the place he wanted he decided to let her know how he felt and that it wasnt something new but something he felt for a while, she sensed it already and didnt feel the same at first but after a while the feeling was mutual, they're still together. just build ur relationship as if u r going out, but dont push it, then when the time is right, let him/her know how u feel.

That's a very difficult situation...I've been there twice before. But basically the person below is right. You just have to tell them. You need to let them know that you love them and not in a friendly way--although you love them that way too. Let them know that you value their friendship and that if they don't return the feelings you understand but it was just something you had to let them know. :)

Or, if you think that hearing that they don't feel the same will crush your feelings and hurt your friendship because you might become more withdrawn, perhaps you should just try to keep your feelings aside and continue your friendship.

The best relationships come out of being friends first. Let them know that you are starting to have more that just friendly feelings for them and see how they react. They might be trying to tell you the same thing.

Tell them how you feel but don't make it to ackword. Just go up to them and say I know were friend but i'm starting to feel something else. If they don't feel the same way hope you can still be friends and hopefully things will turn around.

Treat her like a queen. Do things for her that only she understands. Be adventurous, exciting, classy, and fun whenever your with her. Be a genuine friend, always have her in mind first, be open with her all the time.
