my mom was terminally ill but there were times when my husband and I would have a big laugh to keep from crying, and my sister and I did the same because there were times that mom would pull a stunt and you could not help but laugh, I am telling you that you will remember those times and not the sad ones laughter is truly the best medicine.

yes. last summer i faced many hardships(financial, physical, spiritual, mental). Circumstances looked bleak. I was the lowest I've ever been. There was nothing to do but lay down and start crying. Then I looked out of my window and saw two squirrels chasing each other on a tree and I just started laughing. It was so amazing that one minute I'm in total despair and then I saw that and I'm laughing. Then I realized everything would be alright. When the pain was so great something sometimes triggers a laugh and then things are still hard but they lose some of the intensity. A laugh in pain during mental anguish. Great question.

Yup, when my 5yr old cousin kicked a ball right in my delicates turned round and ran straight into a closed patio door. Talk about mental anguish, did i laugh, cry or feel sorry for the poor little bugger.

yes. in physical pain i've laughed at how stupid i was to get hurt. in mental anguish i've laughed thinking about how silly the reason for my mental aguish was and how it was funny that I was so upset.

Yes. Also, when I get really tired or stressed out I'll start laughing really hard about something then out of nowhere it turns to crying. It really pisses me off.
