ABOUT EVERY 2 WEEKS BUT IT IS OK TO GO AS LONG AS 1 MONTH. BALL PYTHONS ALSO ARE KNOWN FOR STARVING THEMSELVES ONCE AND A WHILE. THE LONGEST I HAVE HEARD OF IS 18 MONTHS!!! AND THE ANIMAL WAS COMPLETELY HEALTHY.
BALL PYTHONS ARE GREAT SNAKES TO START WITH. I LOVED THE ONES I HAD, THEY WERE RESCUES AND BEAUTIFUL ANIMALS.
IF YOUR SNAKE WONT EAT AFTER CHECKING THE TEMP AND HEAT LAMPS FOR PROPER TEMP TRY DIPPING THE MOUCE IN A CAN OF WARM CHICKEN BROTH.
(EWWWWW! I KNOW BUT IT WORKS!)

We have 2 ball pythons.I'm not sure your type of python.
But we feed ours once a week.
Our male eats 2 $3.00 rats(medium)and the female is still a baby so she eats 3 mice once a week.
Ours eats rats and mice.Hampster have too much hair and could windup causing problems in the long run.
They will let you know if they're not hungry.
I myself would not have started on hampsters in the first place and it might take some time to get your snake to get use to the fact that it is only going to get rats from now on.

Once a week. Hamsters are fine. Mice, Rats, Hamsters, Gerbils all can be fed. It is pretty much just a matter of preference. Of course hamsters are alot more expensive than mice.
If your ball is 3ft and has had hamsters all along, it sounds like everything is fine.
Keep in mind hamsters are alot of hair. Your snake may need upped to 2 hamsters before too long.

what kind of python? I'm assuming a ball python, in which care once a week works. When it gets bigger you can bump it back to every 2 weeks or so. Hamsters aren't the best thing to feed it, they're pretty expensive and they can inflict a painful bite. Best to get him on large mice or rats.

3 ft really isnt that big, maybe two large mice or one medium sized rat every 2 weeks. the size of the rat should not exceed the fattest part of your snake. you do not want to overfeed or handle your snake for at least a day after feeding because that could make it regurgitate. hamsters are fine but pretty expensive compared to mice and rats.

I would stick to rats or large mice, no bigger than the fattest part of the snakes body. ok b4 you put the rat in put it in a bag and throw it against the wall to stun it if you want it to die faster.
