Why do all those little fish swim around sharks. Why don't the sharks eat them?

Sharks have an extremely good sense of smell (blood), good feel of movement around them, but not vision. The small fish are hard for the shark to notice and therefore both good protection from larger fish and a good source of food from the little bits torn of by the shark.

They are cleaners. I am not sure why the sharks dont eat them. Maybe the sharks are smart and know they need cleaning OR maybe the fish are just too small for the sharks to pick up on.

Those little fish will eat parasites and other little nasties off of the shark, they keep it in good health. If a shark is hungry enough it probably would eat the little tag alongs, but not if food is abundant.

Interesting. Here is my answer
1. These small fish hang around sharks to get a bite of their catch
2. Sharks dont harm all small fish as it is too much trouble just for a peanut.

Just the same way most of the things work in our system :)

Most of those fish(usually remora fish) stick close to the sharks to get a bite of what ever the shark ate as well as they clean the parasites off the sharks.I have never heard of a shark eating one of those fish, but i am sure it has happened at one time or another.
