Starting any business requires patience and money (to start the business and live on while you build the business). Passion is good as well. You have to believe in your potential and future success.

Here are some sites with info on starting a cleaning business:

The best routes to take are to research the process of starting a business as well as the industry you're interested in.

I recommend checking out the SBA, Entrepreneur, The Start Up Journal & Nolo. All 4 are great informational resources for the new/small business owner. I posted links for you in the source box.

Associations may be a good avenue to explore. These organizations will address many of the thoughts, questions and concerns you'll inevitably have as well as many you haven't anticipated yet. See the source box for some relevant links.

Research, research, research – this cannot be stressed enough. Read as much as you can about the industry. Here are some book titles that are relevant:

* Commercial and Residential Cleaning Services: A Resource Guide to Developing and Maintaining Your Own Janitorial or Home Cleaning Business by Walter Fenix
* Start and Run a Home Cleaning Business by Susan Bewsey
* Start Your Own Cleaning Service (Entrepreneur Magazine's Start Ups) by Jacquelyn Lynn
* How to Start a Home-Based Housecleaning Business, 2nd (Home-Based Business Series) by Laura Jorstad

There are plenty of free informational resources out there. Check the source box for links to articles.

Hope that helps! I wish you much success & happiness in all your ventures!

When starting any business you need to do your research. You can check websites that are running cleaning services to check on prices, list of services, etc... You also need to find out how much to charge people that may want daily services. Luckily this is a business that you can start fairly cheap. You can put up flyers all over town. Another thing you need to do is join your local chamber of commerce. You need to get your business in front of everyone. Make sure that you print up plenty of business cards. Try to talk about your business with as many people as possible. I hope some of this helps.

Read the E-Myth Revisited by Michael Gerber (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0887307280/sr=8-1/qid=1153862800/ref=pd_bbs_1/102-4942198-1306560?ie=UTF8). There's a new edition to be released soon.

This book explains why so many businesses fail early on, and how to build your business to avoid such a fate. Amazing book.

Also, a business will take longer to build than you expect. In the meantime, remember not to skimp on marketing, and be sure you deliver a service that generates good word of mouth referrals. Good luck!
