please dont laugh at me, I want to know the meaning of the "earlier this month". is it means before this month or an the first of this month?

As opposed to "later this month." It's the same month, typically referring to the first week or so of the month. Otherwise, a person would refer to the middle of the month. Later in the month would mean the last week or so of the month.

Well if I said earlier this month i would probably mean at least a week or more prior in the present month. Hope this is what you were wanting.

earlier of the month means the earlier part of the month people call from the 1st of the month to the 20th the earlier of the month and from the 21st to the 29th or 30th the late part of the month

I would think that it meant sometime during the current month before the current day.
