Thanks for the question.

We do have a FIFA Women's World Cup although it didn't start until 1991 61 years after the men. The inaugural tournament was hosted in China, with 12 teams sent to represent their countries. Over 650,000 spectators attended the FIFA Women's World Cup 1999 and nearly 1 billion viewers from 70 countries tuned in. By the FIFA Women's World Cup 2003, 16 teams competed in the championship finals. Of the four tournaments held to date (2006), the USA has won the championship twice, Norway once and Germany most recently. Women's confederations are the same as men's: Oceania (OFC), Europe (UEFA), North, Central America and Caribbean (CONCACAF), South American (CONMEBOL), Asian (AFC) and African (CAF). Originally the brainchild of a 1986 Men's World Cup FIFA official, the Women's World Cup has continued to grow in popularity. FIFA estimates that there are currently 40 million girls and women playing football around the world, and the number of women will equal the number of men by 2010. Planning for the 2007 Women's World Cup, in China, reflects the growth.

16 women's national football teams compete every four years for this women's world championship. In the United States, one of the most famous historical moments in the women's tournament is Brandi Chastain's victory celebration after scoring the Cup-winning penalty shot against China in 1999. She took off her jersey and waved it over her head (as men frequently do), showing her muscular torso and sports bra, as she celebrated. The 1999 and 2003 Women's World Cups were both held in the United States; in 2003 China was supposed to host it but the tournament was moved because of SARS. As compensation, China retained its automatic qualification to the 2003 tournament as host nation and received the FIFA Women's World Cup 2007. The host country for the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011 will be decided by vote.

There are also world cups in other sports such as cricket, rugby and field hockey.

I have attached some links for your reference.

There is a female world cup the year after the year of the men's world cup. You might not have heard about it because it is not as popular. The top goalscorer is Mia Hamm who scored 158 international goals with the USA female soccer team which won 2 female World Cup.

I would have guessed that not enough women enjoy playing football, but the first answerer said that there is a female world cup. I don't think it's because of any sort of discrimination or anything. People just prefer to see men play sports. I can't weigh in too much on this one, because I don't like sports.

There is a FIFA Womens World Cup, and the innagural tournament was held in 1991 in China and won by the United States. In 1995 the tournament was in Sweden, and won by Norway. In 99 the tournament was in the United States and won by the United States. In 03 the tournament was again in the United States (it was scheduled for China, but because of SARS was moved to the United States on short notice. Because of this, China was automatically given the host job for the 07 tournament), and won by Germany. At present, these are the top 5 teams in the rankins given by FIFA: 1) Germany 2) United States 3) Norway 4) Brazil 5) Sweden. See http://fifa.com/en/womens/index.html

there is, in 2007. But with all due respect people aren't interested in watching women play soccer. As a referee I would rather ref a women's (girl's) game over a boys game. The women tend to be better at sportsmanship and play cleaner. The skill level is just as high as the men, I don't really know why its not popular.
