I took a pregnancy test and determined that I was pregnant. I was really scared as I am getting married in a Catholic church in less than a year and was afraid they would refuse to marry us. I put off calling my doctor because I was unsure what I wanted to do and if I was going to tell my fiance. Prior to making that decision, I started bleeding - very heavy, appeared clotted, and definitely was not like one I had experienced before. Through research, and discussions with friends, I determined that I was having a miscarriage. After about two months, I still had not had a normal period, but I was not pregnant. My fiance attempted to urge me to see my ob-gyn, but I did not It has now been seven months and I have had two relatively normal periods. If I were to go to my ob-gyn now, would he still be able to tell that I had the miscarriage? Or have the physical signs been erased? I am young, confused, and have a very Catholic family... so it is difficult to turn to them for help....

speaking from experience NO your doctor cannot tell if you have ever had a miscarriage.... no matter how long the time from. that is unless the miscarriage itself caused some kind of damage to your uterine wall. but to be able to determine that you have to have extensive tests run. 1 in 3 pregnancies miscarry before the woman even knows she is pregnant. you have nothing to worry about. BUT for your doctor to help you ...you HAVE to tell them your medical history!!! and i am sorry but if you are not ready to have kids you do not need to be having sex.... there are millions of women who are not even able to have children and to think you would even CONSIDER throwing such a gift away..... i agree you are very confused.....

You need to have a frank discussion with your ob/gyn! Your doctor will not judge you! They are there to help! Everything discussed with this doctor is confidential. Also, you do not want to have complications after a miscarriage that could lead to further miscarriages. Sometimes retaining "products of conception" can lead to this. Another complication is that you did not get tested to see if you needed a Rhogam shot after the first miscarriage. This is something that all Rh negative pregnant women need to protect future babies. Only 15% of the population is Rh negative, so the odds are that you are Rh positive and probably OK in that regard. You need to see that doctor for your own health and peace of mind as well as protecting that future family that you may one day want. Best wishes for a happy marriage.

If you go to the gyno they can't tell anyone about what they find. It's all private and confidential, but double check. They most likely will be able to tell that you were pregnant. And by the way, if you're not catholic (Thats obvious by the fact that you are having sex before marriage and catholics supposedly follow what the scriptures say) then why are you getting married in a catholic church?? You are the one getting married, not your parents or his parents. It's your life. And what did you mean by "i put off calling my dr. because i was unsure what i wanted to do" does "DO" mean have an abortion? You are clearly not a religious person who has any regard for what God requires of his followers if that is the case. Sounds like you need to look inside your self and figure out who you are before you go getting married or taking any other huge step like that. Best wishes.

I am not sure if he can tell, but there might be some residual tissue that did not pass and you should really find out if your hormones are at zero, they usually test that after a miscarriage to make sure that nothing is still growing inside you. By the way, your doctor will keep everything confidential. Embrace your body it has to last you a long time....good luck.

if you had a miscarriage, then it doesn;t matter if you're catholic. If you had an abortion on the other hand, then maybe. BUT still either way, you should see you doc because there might be some "left-over stuff if you know what i mean.
Please get it checked out. And if you really don;t feel confortable with your doc, see another one!

I don't know the answer to your question regarding the duration of physical proof of a miscarriage.
I did however want to encourage you to see your OB/GYN anyway. You family does not need to know that you have. Your life is your own, and you don't have to live in guilt.
If you too are Catholic, then I also suggest this...take comfort in your faith (that which is in your heart), and press in to that same faith for answers and peace. Don't cower to your "religion" because that is not what God in heaven asks of us! He sees you, and loves you as ou are! Confess in your heart, and find peace in your faithfulness to Him...not your religion.

Wholly Cow!! girl!!!
Number one. What ever you talk with a Dr about it is to stay between you and your Doc. Second. It does sound like a SAB (spontanous abortion) and it could take a couple of months to even out your hormones.
You need to be able to talk about your health with your Dr openly and confidently, thats what he/she is there for. Forget the catholic thing. Thats just all about the guilt.

i suggest seeking a private Ob/gyn..If this is a family doctor, He will know that at one point you were pregnant..No matter how short the length of time was.
