Most try to overly impress the woman. If she is a woman of color, they go muck too far to impress. I have found being one's self is better, especially with a woman of color.

I think the biggest mistake is being unprepared. Never start a first date (or any date, for that matter) with "What do you want to do?" That sort of negotiation should have happened before you made the date, and even then it's usually not a good idea to leave it that open-ended before the relationship is well-established. It also puts a slight amount of pressure on her, because now she is "responsible" for ensuring that the two of you have a good time.
The much better option is to have multiple possible ideas at hand - call or otherwise approach her and say "Hey, theres X and Y and Z going on this weekend; do any of those sound like fun to you?" While this still leaves her as the decision maker, it's not nearly as stressful because you've presented a limited set of options that she can safely assume you would enjoy. (If you don't enjoy X or Z, then don't offer them as options. That's just dumb!)

The most obvious one is:
Being nervous. And the body language representing twitches,
fiddling, unsettlement and insecurity.
This turns woman off whether you just met them or dating.
Another thing is most men ask the same old boring questions like:
What do you do for a living?, What's your favourite music? Where do you work?, etc...
I found a great dating forum that teaches men how to be successful with woman in every area.
You'll definately also find advice on things most men do wrong on dates. Check it out...
(NO WOMAN SHOULD GO TO THIS FORUM)

Most guys just need to relax. They get too stressed out. Just be honest and be yourself. I always liked a guy that was willing to chat a bit, let me know what he's about and take a little time to learn about me. Most women say that he should be listening more than he talks but I think an even exchange of info and discomfort makes everyone more easy going.

a lady by showing off $$$$..
Why do that when the next day, their phone
service is shut off for non-payment?
