What you are looking for is something with a lot of RAM memory. This will help your Internet go faster as well as your programs and movies run faster. Other than that, you will need a DVD player and a good size hard drive. Probably 80 Gig or better.
As well as E-bay, I would also recommend looking at craigslist (www.craigslist.com). At least with craigslist, you can see the laptop run before you buy it.

Good Luck

If you could buy an expensive one, I'd reccomend you the Sony Vaio which is really unique & perfec; but other inexpensive brands that have a good quality, are Toshiba or Compaq (or HP which is better than those two, but is a bit more expensive as far as I know).

I personally wouldn't recommend eBay, but however would suggest that you use Dell...It's cheap, reliable, and great quality.
You can call a Dell Rep, let them know what you want and what you can afford, and they'll work with you that way...They also have payment plans available to suit your needs. I have a PC and a laptop through them...Hope that helps...Good Luck

You can get a Mac which can also runs windows on it.

goto-- http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wo/0.RSLID?mco=A4791B5D&nclm=MacBook

You'll love it. its great in everything-- Design(APPLE), sound quality, Intel Duo Core (latest processors) And unlike any other notebook you can run both Mac & windows on it.

Try to buy a new notebook as older ones can have many problems in them as they can't be reviewed at once.
