i hope you just put the girl somewhere where he could see her but not reach her at least, otherwise he might kill her. the girl won't solve the problem though. males are agressive, competitive, and show-offs. you just gave them something else to fight over.
if it's one of those way too tiny betta baracks, there should be a lid to put on it. if they're in a partitioned tank, make sure the partition wall is much higher than the water level (i'd say at least 3-4 inches to be safe) or make the distance they have to traverse wider. mine is actually built like a "T" so the fish would have to be able to jump from a few inches away from the partition wall and get over a 5 inch wide barrier that's 1-2 inches above water level to get to each other. i made the top piece out of a sheet lifter from a 3 ring binder cut to fit laying across the top. any relatively flat piece of plastic cut to size should work. be sure the fish can't find other ways over, under, or thru the barrier, and make sure it's stable and can't be knocked over.

you're just going to have to put something over the top that prevents the jumping. in the wild, betas live in small puddles and jump from one to the other for breeding purposes only. but they ARE "fighting fish" after all, and i'm sure you know that they'll fight each other at any opportunity. the males and females fight also, except during breeding- which is hard to predict the timing of. so if you don't get a lid or something over the top, expect more fighting.
btw, i'd never recommend those divider tanks for betas. they fight because that's their instinct. i cant imagine two betas being happy, when they're looking at their "opponent" all day. just a thought.

Having the female fish there will only make him more likely to want to fight, because now there is a real reason to fight. And I have read that you should put more than one female in with a single male beta, because they are likely to kill a single female. As for the jumping, you'll need a lid, or something to cover the divider, like a plant, so that he does not know there is another male around.

You put a female in a male's tank?!!? That's generally a bad idea as often one of the 2 will kill the other. (Or they'll mate which is pretty rough on both bettas.) Pretty much with bettas once a jumper always a jumper. (Non jumpers may suddenly decide to jump for no reason. So assume that your betta will jump someday.) You're going to need to move him, put some sort of lid, or lower the water level.

Try placing a lid on the tank so that the fish cannot jump from one side to the other.

You might have to sperated them by having 2 bowls instead of a divider, and placed one fish on the other side of the room. Have something on top, so when the fish have the urge to jump, he would learn his lesson by bumping his head on the cover. I'll bet he won't jump anymore!

Lower their water level and see what happens. I have one of those tanks but I've never had that problem. You may want to buy a large bowl from walmart in the craft section, they are like less than $5 and put him in there. Please do not put plants in the bowls, it will rob him of his space.
