Hi,

I am collecting material for an article to post on my blog: http://blog.egyptiangiftstore.com. I need some help with information on references to Egyptian Cartouches in American pop culture. You can see some examples of what I have found so far here: http://blog.egyptiangiftstore.com/2006/06/30/cartouche-trivia/

Thanks,
Mohamed

When I think of Egyptian anything and pop culture, I think of the Luxor hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada, where, among other things, you can get a pendant of your name in a cartouche made in an hour or two.

I don't have any Egyptian cartouches, but I did buy several wonderful silver and gold cartouches in Turkey when I was stationed at Incirlik. They are beautiful. I bought several as gifts for family, both male and female, and I see that people are still wearing them. I got a really beautiful three sided cartouche in 24k gold (English, Arabic and Egyptian hieroglyphs) for my daughter Samantha. I paid $145 for it, including the really nice gold chain, and it was appraised for $1700 without the chain and the chain was appraised at $130. Are they the inexpensive in Egypt?

Egyptian crouches were for the royle family in side the crouches where their names written. that is one of the ways the commen Egyptian could tell if the person was of royle blood or they were related to the royle family. The American people have a romantic view of Egyptian jewelry they think it looks really cool.

Yes. I think Japanese people likes American pop culture. There are so many people who love MJ and American's fashion but the fact is, Japanese people have their own 'style' that they really love. They don't copy other styles because their own style is their pride. But i've seen many Jap people wearing American stuff. :D Japanese likes American music too.
