I would like you to tell me what exactly frightens you about this. I don't want to hear about how it's disgusting and gross and "OMgmgmgmm ewww". I just want to know from mature people, what scares you about this.

And not "Jesus said it's sin. So I won't make up my own mind, I'll just go with him."

Well, the replies you've seen thus far show exactly why. They have no clue what they are talking about. It will mean the end of the human race because they cannot reproduce? Every single person would have to be homosexual for that to happen. That's quite honestly the weakest argument I've ever heard.

And they have diseases? And heterosexual people do not? It has nothing to do with sexual preference -- it has to do with protection.

I have NEVER heard a sound argument against it. Especially the one where they say that Jesus says it's a sin. Jesus also says not to judge one another, but that doesn't seem to stop people from judging gays. So does this mean that you just pick and choose what you want to follow? Just what makes you most comfortable? (Not to mention that people don't quite want to look at the time period of the Bible and Jesus... there's a REASON they were focused on sex as reproduction -- they didn't exactly have the population boom we have now!)

Rather than everyone making a big fuss about how homosexuality are immoral and wrong, I wish they'd use that energy towards the real problems that exist in this world.

Who cares if gay people get married? How is that threatening to marriage? I certainly do not feel like my husband is going to walk out on me and go find a boyfriend. Why? Because he is not gay. My marriage will not be any less special or less valid because of gay marriage. If anything, gay marriage reinforces all of the reasons that I got married in the first place -- to share my love with God, the world, and with our family. To state that I want to be with this one person for the rest of my life. What's so scary about that? (Well, other than the "holy crap" moment right before you get married, lol.)

Take the energy and start worrying more about the AIDS epidemics in Africa. (Or is that not worthy either, because it's a DISEASE!?! Gasp!)

Act like a Christian and stop judging everyone.

(Sorry, I know that you asked for those against gay marriage, but the answers you received thus far were repulsive!)

ETA: People really categorize beastiality and pedophilia with homosexuality? Goodness! Open up your eyes! Gay marriage is not going to open up flood gates.

If you let gays marry, then you condone gayness. if you condone gayness, you end up condoning pedophiles. then you have children marrying 60 year old men. Soon after that you get chimps marrying humans and beastiality. It's a slippery slope, when you've got midgets marrying Klan members on Jerry Springer. And then our blessed sacrament of marriage becomes dirty.

Ok, I made that all up. I'm simply closed-minded. I am not gay, so it must be wrong, and I don't want any other people to do gay things around me.

In all seriousness though... the end of society? Like homosexuality is going to become trendy all of a sudden and men and women will stop getting it on. lol. Keep gays out of church? I believe the issue in congress concerns marriage as defined by the state (completely seperate from the church).

As far as bigamy, polygamy, incest, pedophilia, bestiality goes...its pretty simple. Any adult should be allowed marital rights to one other adult. This seems the only equitable solution to me regardless of whether I agree or disagree with homosexuality, polygamy, incest, pedophilia, bestiality...etc.

I have nothing against homosexuals but I truely believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman, but I really don't care either way. The only thing that scares the hell out of me is the couples that want children, I don't believe it is fair to put a child into a situation where they will be harassed at school or where they grow up wondering why their life has to be so different than everyone elses. I feel it is selfish and and the couple are only thinking of themselves.

I'm against homosexual marriage bc it will ignore the problems causing homosexuality, such as sexual abuse, inadequate parental relationships, and reversed gender roles. There have been a number of studies done to show that these are some factors influences homosexual attractions. By allowing homosexual marriage, we ignore those causes, which ARE problems that should be fixed.

dbikeguy1, homosexuals have equal rights, they have the right to marry a member of the opposite sex, the fact that they don't want to isn't the government's problem, nor its concern. The gov'ts concern should be the promotion and maintenance of a healthy society, and homosexual marriage isn't part of it. As I stated above, the fact that homosexuals exist is a sign that there are problems that we need to fix, like parents not being parents and affirming their children in their gender roles.

There is nothing about this that frightens me. I could care less. I think that the governement needs to worry about the fact that we are losing people every day in war that makes no sense. The government needs to mind their own business as far as who loves who, who is married to who and who is sleeping with who. From a religious standpoint, people want to talk about "this" or "that "being wrong. Who am I to judge anyone's lifestyle? Everyone is sinning in one way or another, and I will only have to answer for myself and my actions, not everyone else. Typically, we are raised to be homophobic. Only because it is something different than what is considered normal.

To the ignorant fetus who said "It's gross and EWW and if they have sex they get a disease." I have been sexually active since before you were born, ALL GUYS and still no disease sister. Do your research before you start talking about things you do NOT know ANYTHING about. I do believe the questioner specifically requested a mature response, not one from an immature 12yo who doesn't know her a$s from her elbow.

To the inbred 5th grade graduate, we are not all pedophiles. There are just as many straight pedophiles for your information. Mental illness is not selective on who it affects, but ignorance is chosen by those who display it, such as yourself.

I am not frightened, I am still waiting for it to be legal where I live so I can. Thanks for your support, it's good to know that there are people like you out there who care.

I wouldnt say scared, more like i'm concerned for the welfare of America's future children. I live in california and so called "alternative lifestyles" is pushed onto others. I don't like it, and i'm sure that if homosexual people didn't try pushing their views of others it would even be considered by those who would never think of letting gay marriage happen. Just like you all dont want "religious" views pushed onto you,

You have to understand as well that when America did start out, it started by some religious people. I mean our pledge states god, and on our money. So you could say that America once had morality, and now that's being ruined. In time i'm sure gay marriage will happen unfortunately, so just be patient.

First....I know I shouldn't be answering this...because I'm not against Gay Marriage.....but I would like to say what I do believe.
I think as long as 2 people care about each other and committ to that, than its nobody's business if they are married, living together or even just dating. That 2 same sex people can raise a well rounded child as well or better than the couple who live in a disfuncted family.
That it is possible to be married to someone of the oppisite sex and be miserable..leave that bad reletionship for someone of the same sex and live happily.
That children of same sex partners will except this family as his own and will also take alot of judgemental responses from children of ignorant parents. Because that is the hatred they teach.
Fear of being judged for accepting a different lifestyle is what these people are afraid of.And by speaking up would mean people would then talk about them.
That the morals that some of these people claim to have are also the same standards that cults like the KKK and the ARYAN Brotherhood base their beliefs on. Its ignorance and stupidity and the fear of change. They live what they are taught from their fathers..and their grandfathers and on down the family tree......
50 years or so ago....even less than that...the "supreme" (that is meant as a slam)white race would have never believed that the race they enslaved would one day be in the same schools and churches......senators and congressmen........ignorance....thats all it is....fear of someone being different.....and its people like our appointed president who would like to keep things just like they are and not allow change........
wake up people....its being able to be different that makes our country the one everyone wants to move to.....to escape the type of place that determines how you can live.......
So what.....we have people who are GAY...oh my god.......
Maybe some people should clean up there own backyard before thay start complaining about your neighbor......they may one day be the one who saves your life....or your child.
Now..think about this.....would you rather have a gay neighbor who is a caring person living next to you or a bigoted a**hole, who doesnt approve of you or your friends...when your out in your yard one day and suffer a heart attack. Who do you think is gonna reach out and save your life?

OK..I'll step down off my soap box now......Ignorance is Bliss... or at least makes it easier to deal with reality.

I personally am against religious marriage for the gays.
Christianity doesn't recognize Third Sex.
Orthodox and Roman Catholic church have the Marriage between Man and Woman as one of the 7 Mysteries.
They wish for children. They wish for man and woman become ONE.
What is the reason for gays Matrimonial?.
To become a family? Let them go to the Mayor.
But not to a church.

Besides everything you just mentioned. It is merely a fact that this is part of the GAY agenda, that makes it acceptable to people. To teach our kids in school that it is ok to be gay is not in the best interest to the mind of a child. All it does is bring alienation to those that matter most. The Family.
