If you don't want to take pills, the potassium answer is good. When I have leg or foot cramps I take a spoonful of Morton Light with a glass of water - don't take too much of it at once because it burns. If the cramp doesn't disappear after the first spoonful, I take another. Usually two teaspoons are enough.

Menstrual pain is a cramp. I didn't know about Morton Light until recently, and I stopped having cramps 30 years ago.

I know the over-the counter pain pills work, but why not get to the source of the problem? Period pain is caused by an imbalance of potassium, or magniseum in your body. So take a multi-vitamin every day. Eat more bananas (pot.), cashews or mushrooms (mag.) or take Slow Mag. 2 of those work as well as 2 Midols.

Also those heat packs for periods help too. You attach them to your self and they supply heat to the area for up to 8 hours.

3 or 4 Advil works well for me with a glass of milk. The Ibruprofen works great for the bloating and the calcium in the milk really helps as well. I'm not sure why it works, but it does for me. I don't remember where I heard it either.

Motrin or Ibuprofen work the best for me. I also use icy hot on my back, it really helps. Or even a heating pad if you have the time to sit.
