I think it will be a success as an african girl myself I'll be the one to tell you no matter how much they have to pay people in Africa will go and see, but some could care less. Just because it's hot doesn't mean anything I mean national teams like Cameroon, Saudi Arabia, and even Brazil must be used to that.

South Africa 2010 will be the first Soccer World Cup to be held in the continent of Africa, and I sincerely hope that it will be a resounding success.

South Africa 2010 has to live up to the standards set by the Germans at FIFA World Cup 2006, which truly was the best World Cup, held till date, in terms of sheer facilities provided.

Its going to be a great opportunity for South Africa, and the African continent as a whole to showcase itself to the rest of the world.

Countries from 'The Dark Continent' like Egypt, Tunisia, Ghana, etc. have previously bid to host the World Cup, but have never been taken too seriously by FIFA.

South Africa were favourites to get the right to host the 2006 World Cup, but were pipped at the post by Germany, thanks to a controversial abstinence by one of the member voters.

South Africa have previously hosted high profile sporting tournaments like the Rugby World Cup 1998, African Nations Cup Soccer 2000 and the Cricket World Cup 2003, and have achieved resounding success doing so.

It is widely felt that South Africa have the neccessary infrastructure to successfully hold a sporting event of this magnitude, but FIFA has its reservations about the quality of grounds/stadia to be provided by the host nation for the greatest show on earth.

FIFA also has expressed its doubts about South Africa's hospitality industry - about hotels, etc. for providing accomodation to the participating teams alongwith mediapersons and spectators from all over the world.

There is also reservations about South Africa's black past - apartheid, et al which may cast a shadow on the world cup.

But lets hope and wish the people of South Africa lots of luck to help them prove the world wrong and present a fabulous FIFA WORLD CUP 2006.

I dunno know why I have the feeling that it will not be a success, though deep inside I'm wishing it going to be, specially that it's the first world cup being held in the continent of Africa, and specially for all the Football (Soccer) fans of the world.
