The tour allows you to visit the bottom half of the house and the grounds. The top level is still private for the family. The rooms are still set as they were in the 1970's and are an interesting glimpse into the life of Elvis & his family. the house is much smaller than I had always imagined, but the grounds are nice. There's a shrine at his grave that has all of the things people have sent to be displayed until they are tattered or worn out. Things come from all over the world. His car museum across the street is also interesting, especially if you're into cars.

I've lived in Memphis my whole life (30 years) and I've only been to Graceland once b/c a friend from out of town wanted to see it. I wasn't impressed...got really bored and the tour could not have ended soon enough. I guess it's neat if you are into Elvis, but for me - well, I could have thought of alot more interesting places to go. Oh, and it is in a bad part of town...make sure you'll be out of the area by dark.

It's in the middle of a low income crime infested neighborhood. It's overpriced, overrated and run down. Other than that it's a great place to visit.
If you're in Memphis a much better venture would be to visit the Lorraine Hotel where MLK was assasinated. The place is now a civil rights museum with alot of interesting history. More interesting than paying out the nose to see Elvis's shoes.

It was really cool. It's smaller than you would think, but everything about it was fun. Lots of cool stuff to look at. Even if you're not an Elvis fan.

I lived in memphis for 6 years, just moved away. i never went. a lot of memphis residents never go. i guess they think it's for the tourists, or maybe it's because it's in a bad neighborhood.

I have and basically it was tacky. You can take the boy out of the country but you can't take the country out of the boy.
I had fun though.
