Cats or Dogs?

Cats, definitely.

Dogs smell worse, have to be taken outside for excersie WITH someone with them, have to pee and crap out side.

Cats can stay inside all day, or go outside BY THEMSELVES and get excersize, can pee and crap in a littler box, and you can leave them home for a weekend and just have someone come over and put food in the bowl.

I've had both and have enjoyed both, but dogs are HANDS DOWN a better pet.

Choose a cat if: You don't care if it hangs out with you, you are not allergic, you want a lower maintenance pet.

Choose a dog if: You want an animal that will cuddle you, you are willing to take it for walks, and if you want the pet to be more interactive.

Don't choose a cat if: you want an animal that will be devoted to you.

Don't choose a dog if: you want an animal that does not require much love from you.

I have 2 of each. The dogs are more likely to interact with humans, but the cats are lower maintenence.

It depends. If you live in an apartment/house with small to no backyard, get a cat. If not, go for a dog.

That depends upon what style of personality your desire. Cat and dogs have different personalities and life style requirements. One should choose according to their own desires...research each and decide from there.
