My cousin (to save embarrassment, wont mention her name, but is 14 yrs old) has been reading some of these answers talking about how some women shave their pubic hairs. She is getting really nerves because she has gone all her life without shaving it off. She has, however, cut a little of it off of the sides and trimmed it in the middle. But she hasn’t done anything extreme. What should she do? Should she go ahead and shave it off, use some shaving lotion, or leave it alone. And if she does leave it, should she shave it later in life. I don't know what to tell her, so I am asking complete strangers. Any advice? (guys, you can put in your say if you have anything nice to say for her [like if you like them shaved, or not])

Depends on what she wants really. In some cultures, it's seen as a clean thing to remove all the pubic hair. But in most Western cultures, it's a suxual thing. Most women I know either wax around the sides, or trim the whole lot.
If you shave it, then it is really really itchy when it grows back, and the only way to help lessen this is to shave the area everyday.
Personally, I didn't start to do my bikini line til I was 18, and that was purely a sexual thing. It's kinda strange to have that kind of obsession at such a young age. She should stick to trimming, it's not as if she has to (or should be) impressing any guy (or girl) with her impressive pubic topiary.

Here's my advice at 14 she shouldn't be shaving it all off...that's a sexual thing and she's way too young and if she does happen to have sex in the next few months/years guys will think she's easy.
However, the bikini areas are fine. There's nothing more gross than pubic hair hanging out of a chicks bathing suit. *shiver* As for shaving it all off or having the "Mohawk" thing going that's something that comes later in life when she's more sexual mature.

She's 14, that is one of the last things she needs to be worrying about right now...I shaved mine for more sexual stimulation (when I was 28)...she has no business having sex at her age anyway...
If she eventually wants to do so, that'll be up to her...some guys like it bald, some prefer trimmed, some prefer just a thin strip but you know what? What is most important is what the woman prefers because it's on her body, and she's the one who has to keep up with shaving (or not shaving) it.
It's not important enough to worry about at any age, much less at a young age...when the time comes, if she's really curious about it, she can do it...if she doesn't like it, it will grow back...

I think she should wait until shes older then she might want to think of getting waxed, it hurts at first but you wont have as many ingrown hairs or irritation.
If shes concerned about her pubic hair showing through bathing suits she may want to try and get a small razor with some specially formulated shave gel (skintimate is nice) and be careful go slowly and use small strokes. Let the area get nice and warm from the shower to cut down on irritation. Read the directions and that should do it.
Never EVER EVER use depilatory creams on your vaginal or anal area, you will regret it. It could burn your labia, clitoris, or worse your vaginal canal.

From what my guy friends tell me they prefer "that area" shaved. I would tell her to do whatever she feels comfortable doing, and do not let men control what you do to your body. But know if you do shave do not just use shaving cream and a razor. Why? Because she may notice razor bumps and I have heard the itching can be extreme. If she does shave I suggest those specialized products for the bikini line. But again I would tell her to not shave and just continue to trim.

i really didnt start shaving until i was sexually active, i am 22. i would recommend keeping her bikini area clean, for her bathing suit and sanitation issues with sweat. try products such as nare which requires no shaving at all or shaving with a soft womens shaving cream with warm water.
otherwise really no reason to shave unless she wants to be neat.
good luck, this will get interesting when she gets older.

She's still very young to be thinking this way--unless she needs to take care of it in the bikini area (on the sides) so it doesn't show, she shouldn't worry about it at all. And my advice there is really to select a more modest swimsuit, dear. No one but she and her doctor ought to be checking her out that carefully at this point in her life, if you know what I mean.

Are you sure that it isn't you who wants to know??? I say for her to do whatever she wants. There is no right or wrong answer here. Plenty of women shave, wax, use a product and lots of women do nothing.

lol i honeslty dont even think this is about "your cuzin" but its all good...fist off, "shes" 14 and shouldnt even be worried about this bc thats too young an age to be shaving anything off anyway. especially if its to impress a guy...what the hell are u doing showing off ur stuff to guys at 14 anyway? i mean, whats ur cuzin doing showing off her stuff to guys for.....keep ur innocence, and stay pure until ur AT LEAST 18 please, or wait for the right guy....
but if u MUST know....thats all up to u and what makes u comfortable, just be careful while doing it, and dont go crazy using lotions and all that stuff, that'll prolly just make ur zone all irritaded and u really dont want htat...

Why is this an issue for a 14-year-old? Were "her" parents around during the formative years?
