If i were to buy a gemstone after the diamond what would be the next expensive stone to buy????

Emerald, then Ruby, then Sapphire.

Depending on the quality you want, the most expensive after the diamond would be the emerald, the ruby and the Sapphire. It is based on hardness of the stone plus clarity when viewing. really good quality gems will increase in value ahead of inflation.
