So far, knowbody has checked mine. How about any one else? The reason I asked is because I applied at the BNSF Railroad, for mechanical shop laborer. If anyone has any input, or experience with them, I would greatly appreciate it.

I don't have any experience with them but what I have learned in my own job search is that any company that asks you to agree for a background check with your application will indeed be looking to verify your educational background (among other things). Most companies will not accept faxed copies, from the candidate. The typical employer will require a copy directly from the school, with the school seal on it, in order to verify its authentication.
A smaller company, may accept copies from you. But if the BNSF railroad is government, or unionized, etc. they will only accept it from the educational institution, and if so; expect to pay a fee for such services.

If a job requires a background check, then they WILL check to confirm a high school diploma. I went on a job interview about a week and a half ago. They called me just today and asked for my maiden name so that the people doing the background check could confirm my high school diploma. So if the job you're going for doesn't require a background check, then they probably don't call your old high school to see if you graduated or not.

If its for a retail, resturant or fast food job, than no they will not check. I put down my dad's cellphone number under "previous employer" because I didnt know the employers number and nobody ever called my dad. However, if the job SPECIFICALLY requires a high school diploma, they will check.

Yes. When I applied to AT&T Wireless & was going through the background check, the third party company they were using called me for a copy. I had copies made already & sent them one certified so that I was sure they got it. They're Cingular now & might not bother. Some companies ask, some don't.

Every coming day there seems to be news of horrible crimes being committed to innocent people. We want you to know who these offenders are, some are living among you without your knowledge. eVerify, a criminal background search tool, will provide you that closure.
