one issue I was reading RETURN TO WEAPON X. Wolverine and Sabertooth fight and Wolverine only walks away apparently. not sure if Sabertooth died finally though

The simple answer is no. Wolverine has beaten Sabertooth to a bloody pulp many times, but never actually killed him (though not for a lack of trying). The issue you are referring to did not take place in normal continuity, but is instead in the Ultimate Universe. Even there however, I believe Wolverine just gives Sabertooth a beating he couldn't walk away, rather than killing him.

Sabertooth has an incredible healing factor like Wolverine, so in the end it is like two "immortals" fighting for all of eterinty. The only way for them to truly die is if their organs are completely destroyed and the flesh ripped from their bones(like in the alterntate future "Days of the Future Past" when a sentinal blasted Wolvie with an energy blast so powerful that only his adamantium skeleton was left) But it is doubtful either of them could do this to each other.
"Return to Weapon X" is part of the "Ultimate" universe in which many of the Marvel characters where basically rewritten (not an alternate future, more of a way for new writers and techniques to be brought to older characters) Though the characters have the same powers only their background story and motives have changed.

I don't recall him ever succesfully killing him but he sure has come close on a few occasions I remember wolverine issue # 90 I think where he popped his claw into sabertooth's brain and that was supposed to have killed him only to have him be cured of his need for birdy to give him the glow, ( she basically wipes his mind of his victim's faces and calms him) I've read that the only way to kill either wolverine or sabertooth is to cut off their heads and to move their heads away from their bodies or they will regenerate and grow back.

I really can not say that I have seen it happen. They have came close but they always heal and return to kicking butt!! I have a Wolverine graphic novel where Victor Creed/Sabertooth dies of old age...he just got old and could not heal as easily but that is it. Just natual death...nothing interesting...

so a procedures as I bear in mind from the final bit I examine, they do no longer look to be suitable in any respect. They labored at the same time in the time of the Weapon X challenge and Sabretooth's meant killing of Silver Fox is what led to their shift to enemies. The Warlock

the answer is no. but the recent issue of x-men, sabretooth has come to the mansion for sanctuary. stay tuned... ;)
