Dice is plural, so you are rolling 2 die. They will add to 5 4 times out of 36. The odds, 9 to 1 against rolling 5. When rolling dice or a die, the odds are even that you will get an even number.

There are two questions here.
1) Odds for a 5: 1/6
2) Odds for a 5 OR an even number: 1/6+3/6=4/6=2/3. Because this question specifies either a 5 or an even number, you must add the two odds together.

Actually, the old singular may have been "die", but that usage is almost completely dead. The "a" in front of "dice" indicates that only one cube is referred to. But if your question asks what are the odds of rolling a 5 or an even number, then there are 3 even numbers PLUS 5, making the odds 4 out of 6 or 66.67% chance of rolling either a 5 or an even number.

The answers I have read above mine are utter nonsense.
Assuming this is a basic, 6-faced die, numbered 1-6, the probability of rolling a 5 is 1/6, or 16.67%. This is because 5 is one of six numbers.
The probability of rolling an even number is 1/2, or 50%. This is becuase there are 3 even numbers out of 6 total numbers, and 3/6 can be simplified to 1/2.
I hope this helps, and wish you all the best!

There are 3 even numbers on a six-sided die - 2, 4 and 6. Add in the 5 and that gives you 4 numbers out of 6, or 2 out of 3.
66.66%
