I appologize to you who are not a Democrat or a Republican. If not, then why did you choose your particular political affiliation?

Very good questions. I consider myself to be a democrat. Some people become what they are born into. As for issues that are important to me, I focus mostly on issues that affect our everyday life. Even though I know abortion and gun control are important issues they are not priorities for me. I am not homosexual so the same-sex issue is not high on my list of course, I am not against it but it just has nothing to do with me so I am just not going to say anything about it. My way of thinking is let them live their lives, they are not trying to tell me how to live mine. I think the environment is an important issue, because we only have one world and we should do everything we can to protect it. Future generations are the ones who will suffer for the mistakes we make now. It is hard for me to be on one side of the fence on an issue, because I can also see the argument for the other side as well. I am kind of an independent thinker so it is hard to choose sides. I guess I just wouldn't make a very good politician. But I like to consider all arguments about something when I am making a decision about it, and I try to be objective. I think we need both the democratic and republican parties so we can take an in-depth look at the issues and see them from different sides. I just wish everyone didn't have to get so angry about it all the time and talk about who is better, who is worse, etc. It is frustrating.

I am an independent a (neutral or uncommitted person (especially in politics). All of the things you say are very important issues to me. I like to vote after I view both sides of the parties before I decide on who I will give my vote too. I am not swayed by or committed to either the Democrat or the Republican party.

I choose to be a Democrat because I believe that everyday people need more assistance than businesses. Businesses can also receive assistance through tax breaks and other incentives; and that s okay. Republicans want to keep government out of our lives, but they continually try to prevent a woman from having an abortion. Also if you are a student and would like to have your student loans forgiven in bankruptcy, if you vote republican you would be cutting your own throat.

I am a republican. I am strongly against abortion. This single stance is what defines me as Republican and I will always vote for the Right. I believe in the right to bare arms, we should do something to clean up the environment and I believe in civil unions, not gay marriage.

World affairs are an important issue for me. The war in Iraq, Darfur, Isreal/Lebanon, North Korea. Considering the power and scope of the American empire, I want the leader who will make the best decisions for the world.

This extends to environmental issues, personal rights(reproductive choice, freedom of and from religion, gay marraige)

As such, I vote mostly democrat, but can be swayed occasionally to vote libertarian.

I am Independent, but seldom vote Republican but in local races!!

We have a lot of issues that need to be addressed by this country rather than how many tax breaks the rich are going to get! From Medical care to people starving to death!

Republicans vote their wallet and disdain for every other human that lives in this country that is "different" than they are!

I was watching a local newscast when I was in college. (They DID have TV back in the 60's). They showed some woman who was protesting for an increase in her welfare benefits.

She said "I DEMAND an increase in my welfare benefits. It's my RIGHT." At that moment that I realized that I had to abandon my family's Democrat roots and switch to the Republicans.

While I haven't been totally happy with them, it's the best chance I've got to get the government I'm looking to get.

Libertarian. Republicans are too much like the democRATS. Freedom, true freedom and personal responsibility are issues I care about. Of course, most people are too stupid to understand; instead, they want the government to take care of them and provide for them They see Washington as the daddy. What fools.

I have chosen to be a Republican because I drool a lot and that's the only option they gave me at the Home when I was registered to vote.
