There could be a number of causes for this, but none of them serious. Irritation in this area is a real nuisance, not to say an embarrassment. It is possible that this is a mild form of thrush, but this is not very likely, as you do not mention any white or yellowish discharge.

It is most likely to be a reaction to something you are coming into contact with. The irritation could be to do with clothing - say the material of your panties, or jeans, or a dye used to colour your underwear if they are not white. Or it could be a vaginal deodorant or spray if you use one, or even a bath additive of some sort. This is a very sensitive area, and something like that may not cause problems elsewhere. I have even known biological washing powders to cause this. So think about whether there is something you are coming into contact with in this region that might be causing it.

As far as getting some relief from it goes, try getting some 1 per cent hydrocortisone cream. This is mild, but very good for relieving itching and inflammation, and you can buy it over the counter quite cheaply. Another remedy worth trying would be Canesten hydrocortisone. This is also available over the counter and combines a treatment for thrush with the hydrocortisone, and would be useful if you have a mild thrush infection present, which is a possibility. If it doesn't work or you get other symptoms as well, it would be best to check with your doctor.

Washing too much can actually irritate the vagina as does washing with soap. I know it sounds weird but dont wash so much! It might be a yeast infection thought as the symptoms can vary get something over the counter from a chemist and see if that helps.

Yeast infections don't cause pain with sex or urination. If you are itching in your vaginal area, chances are you have some kind of infection. Your best bet is to visit with your doctor to get proper diagnosis and treatment of your problem.

If you have kinda a white discharge or if when you itch, white stuff like cottage cheese rubs off then you got a yeast infection. Otherwise, it might be an allergic reaction to something like your laundry soap or bath stuff.

If your having discharge and your not wearing panty liners than that might be the case. It could also be an infection. If you are still having your period, maybe the blood is tickling and making you itch.

Don't have sex that often, that can also trigger it!
