I have a night visitor who leaves droppings that look like rat droppings except that they are up to 2" long.

Question

This animal is getting into my garage through what must be a very small opening because I haven't been able to find it. I find droppings both inside and outside the garage. I live in the semi-rural mountains where there are many creatures including ground squirrels, grey squirrels, bobcats, skunks, rabbits, opposum, and etc. Can anyone identify a small animal that leaves droppings of this size? (2" long by 1/4" diameter in the shape of rat droppings).

Scrape some into a jar, and take it to your local (University or Farm) Co-operative Extension Program, (located in the Yellow Pages), and they will be able to tell you what type of animal it is, and how to get rid of it..
