there is so much outcry about smoking, yet alcohol kills just as many people if not more, why is it not banned?

I noticed that some people say that alcohol does not affect people like smoking. What about that it breaks up homes and the carnage it causes on our Highways.

Smoking kills everyone stupid end of story, alcohol kills only those who consume it in excess and not those nearby. Allowing public drinking would be akin to passive support of child abuse, sexual assault, and every other alcohol related crime that occurs. Its legal just keep it in licensed premises and private homes.

Because a large majority of people really need alcohol in their lives in order to:
1.) relax
2.) have fun
3.) enjoy each other's company

Not the same with smoking!

When a person smokes next to you, the smoke from his cigarette and when he exhales can be indirectly passed to you which in turn you will inhale. It's not the same with alcohol.

smoking is banned because of second hand smoke, not of the dangers of smoking on the individual.

you can't drink at work.
that's good.
you can't drink in most public buildings or government buildings.
but a bar wouldn't make sense not to drink in.
they tried prohibition against alcohal and gave all the profits from it to organized crime. prohibition doesn't work. the present prohibition against drugs doesn't work either. all the profits go to organized crime.
i'm not saying that alcohal and drugs are good. i'm saying that you can't just make everything illegal and throw people into jail; and give all the profits to organized crime.
