No, in my experience I always get the short end of the deal.

I'm familiar with the song and I have always been puzzled by that line.

In MY opinion, it should be the other way around.

TAKING love(and not giving it), would not produce very much positive feedback.

It SHOULD be, in my opinion,...The love you GIVE is equal to the love you make.(people loving you back).

The more you love a person, the more, they will love you back....OR The love you GIVE(to a member of the opposite sex is equal to the love you make(meaning sex.).

Which ever angle you veiw this from, it sounds to me like it should be the other way around.

I've always been curious about that line. I have wondered if they just made a mistake and meant it to be the other way around but didn't catch it until it was too late.

Yes. One´s capacity to love is indelibly tied to one´s ability to receive love.
that is, in a mathematical equation:
LO=LI
Love outtake = love intake
However, keep in mind that the person or manner in which you would like to receive the love is a variable which cannot be controlled.
Now, if you are able to love deeply, and do so freely, then this will in turn open your heart to receive all forms of love, and therefore, make your love experiences deeper, more well-rounded, and frequent.
the Beatles put it so simply, as most poets and musicians do.
Buddhists would simply call it Karma.
But you don´t have to be a poet, or musician, or Buddhist to experience this for yourself. Just observe, and love. You will notice the pattern right away

I'd say it's true - at least most of the time. To use another musical group's words, it's "A Question of Balance." (The Moody Blues). In my 63 years, I've noted (and occasionally been very surprised by) how there DOES seem to be a "balance" in the universe, most noticeably in human relationships. Perhaps we are all a part of one another, even though we all seem to be apart from each other, for when we help someone else, we help ourselves and when we hurt another, it's ourselves we hurt as well. So, love taken = love made makes sense to me.

I dont believe so. Nothing can top the act of unconditional love Christ has for us. He allowed himself to be crucified so that we would have direct access to Our Father in Heaven.

Yeah but what they don't tell you is that hurts the other person and it can be spared out in little bits and given away and that's no good.
