Favorite Pagan holiday: Anthesteria.

Anthesteria was a three-day Athenian festival dedicated to Dionysos. The first day was called "Pythoigia", where sacrifices were offered to the god and the new wine was tasted. The second day was called "Khoes", where the spirits of the dead (called "Keres") were invited to join in the revelry and drinking contests were held. The third day was called "Khytroi" where Dionysos was ritualistically married to the Priestess Queen (AKA the "Basilenna"), where a pot feast of various grains was offered to the Chthonic Hermes, and various other small rites were celebrated.

As a Dionysian priest, I've led this festival annually over the past five years here in California. The festival in general has a dark, wine-drenched, "sex & death" feel to it.

I am partial to Imbolc. While it is not as big & flashy as Samhain or Beltane, Imbolc (aka Candlemas, aka Oimelc, aka Groundhog Day) is a fascinating celebration of empowerment in its many forms, condensed into the triple image of the Smith, the Poet, and the Healer. It's light without heat, and hope in uncertain times, and I think it's certainly underappreciated among the Big 8 holidays of the Neo-Pagan ceremonial calendar.

Ostara, with Mabon a close second. I like the equinoxes. =)

The rest would probably be:
Yule
Samhain
Litha
Beltane
Lammas
Imbolc (Snowbaal - I would agree with you on your words about Imbolc. I still have a problem getting "in tune" with Imbolc, but I'm working on it!)

december 25, it is the day when pagans decorate their tree god, when hypocrites forgive each other, and the exchanging of recycled gifts (gifts that nobody wants to receive)
