I used to recommend Adaware, then it was Spyware Nuker (I still love the guys that wrote that software), but today, I can't recommend anything other that Microsoft Windows Defender.

Microsoft released this software about a year ago and called it the Anti-Spyware Beta. It has recently changed names to Windows Defender. It's free, although I've heard rumors that they might start charging for it at some point.

You can download it here...

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=435bfce7-da2b-4a6a-afa4-f7f14e605a0d&displaylang=en

It's in it's 2nd beta and is rock solid stable. It works very well. I haven't had a spyware infection problem since I've been running it.

You could also try here. One of my Spyware Article Sites...

For goodness sake do not pay for those spywares asking you to suscribe to them to remove spyware. these are called MALWARES Malicious wares otherwise known as wolves in microsofts clothing. These Malware exploit vulnerability in windows internet explorer hijack your explorer browser and presto you think its a genuine message from internet explorer dont fall for it. Genuine spyware vendors will never spam you.
I know because I had the same problem. To remove SPY AXE and the rest of the trojans(Trojans are viruses you loaded when visiting a suspicious site) Please dont hesistate visit SPYWARE DOCTOR This is the best answer to malicious wareby a mile. One year suscription is only £19.99. Their boffins are always in your computers background. Once you download the full programme (not the trial) those boffins really go to work. They will clear up all those annoying pop ups and web page hijacking that does nothing but slows down your computer.Go to www.pctools.com and get yourself rid of those internet pest. When Spyware Doctor is in your system those pests dare not rear their ugly heads. If you are visiting a dodgy site only then will spywareDoctor pop up to warn you. You will surf smoothly too. If you suscribe to those pests that wont be the end of it . Immediately after suscribing youll be asked to upgrade. Those bastards are exploiting a vulnerability in US lawmaking so it takes time for legislation to catch up with them. by the time the law finally catch up the've upped the ante. Never download free software because you are getting a weak mixture. can you imagine anyone spending moey and time on a programme and give to you totally free?

AdAware and SpyBot Search and Destroy are both free.
